Centrifugal Pumps: Operation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Inspection and Repair
Course Objectives
After completion of this course attendees will be able to:
- Properly select the right pump & motor for the job
- Understand and apply basic pump principles
- Install, start-up,priming and commission a pump
- Correctly align a pump and motor
- Properly maintain pumps and pump systems
- Properly operate a pump system
- Read and understand what pump gauges are saying
- Read and apply pump curve charts
- Identify and distinguish a “pump” problem from a “system” problem
- Identify, correct and avoid cavitations problems
- Prevent mechanical seal failure.

Centrifugal Pumps:
Section 1: Pump classification. Section 2: Basic hydraulic & Pump concepts & Definitions. Section 3: How centrifugal pumps work and induce flow. Section4: Horse power of pumps and efficiency and losses. Section 5: pump system curves and how Read these curves. Section 6: calculating system heads. Section 7: Determining a pump’s operating points in the field. Section 8: effect of pump operation on mechanical reliability. Section 9: effect of pump seed on pump life. Section 10: pump troubleshooting and maintenance. Course Program:
